Education in Macao over Four Hundred Years

Four centuries of education have forged ahead, shaping Macao's unique educational landscape. This book exhibition brings together over a hundred of documentary materials, covering from the historical origins of Colégio de São Paulo to the strategic development of modern higher education; from the traces of education during the Second Sino-Japanese War to the educational achievements after the handover, providing a comprehensive outline of the evolution of education in Macao.

The exhibition includes a wide range of themes such as educational history and theory, curriculum innovation, teacher development, and education exchanges across various regions in China. It features both historical materials on local culture and research on higher education quality assurance and the joint development of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. By visiting the exhibition, you will have a full view of four centuries of harmonious integration between Chinese and Western education in Macao.

Wanfang Data: Local Gazetteers — To Know China, Read the Gazetteers

Content	Wanfang Local Gazetteers is an essential documentary resource for regional records. Organized by chronology, geography, and subject matter, it serves as a comprehensive encyclopedia that offers insights into the historical, geographic, social, political, economic, legal, and cultural landscapes of various regions in China. To cater to the unique nature of these records, Wanfang Data has developed a dedicated service platform, "Wanfang Local Gazetteers Knowledge Service System”. The collection is categorized by the 1949 historical milestone: it features "Old Local Gazetteers" (pre-1949), comprising over 9,200 titles and 125,000 volumes, and "New Local Gazetteers" (post-1949), which currently exceeds 67,000 volumes. With continuous updates, it stands as the most extensive digital repository of "New Local Gazetteers" available.
